NUTRITION SCIENCE

Energy and Health from the Plate:

How Diet Affects Your Well-being?

Healthy eating is the foundation of good well-being and the key to a long life in health. It consists of a balanced diet, rich in a variety of vegetables, fruits, whole grain products, lean proteins, and healthy fats, combined with proper hydration and regular physical activity.

Proper eating habits have a significant impact on the prevention and support of the treatment of many diseases and ailments, such as:

- Cardiovascular diseases: hypertension, atherosclerosis, heart attack, stroke.

- Type 2 diabetes.

- Obesity and overweight.

- Some types of cancer.

- Digestive system diseases: irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, reflux.

- Immune system problems.

- Skin ailments.

- Mood and energy issues.

**Secrets of Healthy Digestion:

Why Diet Alone Is Not Enough?**

It is probably obvious to everyone that nutrition matters. The amount of calories consumed matters, the way meals are prepared matters, the origin and composition of products matter. But what else is important, and not less than the above elements? Your health and well-being are also influenced by, among other things:

- What emotions do you eat with? Are you accompanied by anger, rage, or guilt during meals?

- Do you eat in a hurry, or do you savor every bite and chew long enough to start digesting in the mouth?

Of course, this is not everything!

Do you know that without proper hydration of the body, there is no good digestion? The gastric mucosa is composed of 90% water and plays a huge role in the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach. A dehydrated gastric mucosa "pulls" water from other organs to digest food, which causes even greater dehydration and weakens other organs.

Do you know that even if you eat the healthiest food, your body may not improve, and you may not feel better? Why?

This can happen for several reasons, for example:

- you have food intolerances

- you have a deficiency of digestive enzymes or probiotic bacteria

- you are in constant stress or stimulation, which weakens the functioning of the digestive system, and thus digestion and absorption, which consequently worsens your well-being

- you have an under-acidic stomach and therefore do not digest food, leading to the proliferation of bacteria and viruses due to the lack of adequate protection provided by stomach acid.

Notice how important the proper functioning of our nervous, digestive, and excretory systems is. Any disturbances in even one of them start a chain of subsequent problems and ailments.

Often, problems with the digestive or nervous system begin after taking medications for completely different conditions. The most important thing is to be aware of what is happening to our body and when it started because without finding the cause, it is difficult to return to health.

The human body is very wise and can manage to eliminate impurities from an everyday diet, even if it is not the healthiest, but only when its natural digestive and excretory functions have not been damaged. Therefore, sometimes following a diet alone addresses the symptoms, while only finding the true cause results in a return to full health.

The impact of nutrition on the healing process

The appropriate nutrients provided within a personalized diet have a direct impact on the healing and tissue regeneration processes.

Influence on the healing process

A proper diet supports the body's defense abilities, thereby strengthening the immune system in the fight against infections and diseases.

**Immune System Support**

Through appropriate dietary choices, inflammation in the body is reduced, which has a significant impact on alleviating the symptoms of chronic diseases.

Reducing inflammation

A healthy diet plays a key role not only in physical but also in mental health. A proper diet supports emotional balance and mental well-being.
