COACHING

Coach's Responsibilities

A coach may provide advice or express their opinion, but only at the explicit request of the client.

The coach:

  • acts according to ethical principles

  • builds trust and a sense of safety

  • actively listens

  • stimulates awareness

  • facilitates the client's development.

The coach:

  • remains objective throughout the coaching process

  • clarifies the client’s thoughts and words, then reflects them back

  • encourages action

  • listens to the client

  • understands the client

  • accepts the client as they are.

What the Coach does not do?

  • does not judge

  • does not suggest solutions

  • does not impose ideas

  • does not judge

  • does not hold the client accountable

  • does not exert pressure

  • does not push.

The goal of coaching is CHANGE. The client must be ready for change for the coaching process to proceed successfully, meaning it benefits the client.

 

Generally speaking, coaching is a process of helping individuals and teams achieve goals, uncover their strengths, overcome internal barriers and limitations, and facilitate more effective teamwork.

 

Coaching is a partnership relationship between the Coach and the client.

 

The coach does not approach the client from the position of an expert, authority, or healer. The coach is a specialist in the process and is only responsible for the process conducted.

 

The goal of every coaching session is to make the client aware of their potential and resources that they already possess.

 

The coach facilitates the client's discoveries and supports the learning process, using tools and techniques such as powerful questions, silence, metaphor, and analogy.

Well, precisely to guide you through the process of finding the answers that are already within you, but which you find hard to notice on your own.

 

Generally, we as humans do not like to be judged or have solutions imposed on us.

 

Even when we ask someone for advice, we often still do things “our way.”

 

This is where coaching excels among other developmental tools that expand our awareness.

 

What we arrive at on our own resonates with us the most.

 

And that “aha” effect, that moment of realization, which we often experience in the coaching process, can clear blockages that have been within us for years.
